THE CONSTITUTION OF ANOC

The current Constitution of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) defines the missions of the Association and governs its operations. In its current version, it fundamentally reflects the Constitution adopted by the ANOC Constitutive Assembly held in June 1979 in Porto Rico. This first Constitution had been prepared by David McKenzie (NOC of Australia) with the assistance of Arlington G. Butler (Bahamas) and Peter Ritter (Liechtenstein).

The modifications made since then relate essentially to questions of form, and were adopted at the following dates :

• Amendments adopted at the IOC's suggestion by the IInd ANOC General Assembly held in July-August 1981 in Milan, Italy.

• Amendments adopted by the VI ANOC General Assembly held in December 1988 in Vienna, Austria.

• Amendments adopted by the IX ANOC General Assembly held in December 1994 in Atlanta, U.S.A.

• Reforms adopted by the XVI ANOC General Assembly held in April 2008 in Beijing, China.
